Reason for the Seasons


In class, we read about James and Sophia.  In North America, James was experiencing winter during the month of February.  In Australia, Sophia said it was summer in February.  How is this so?  Watch the video to understand the reason for the seasons.

Convection Current


Watch the video to see a convection current.  In this example, you will observe how hot and cold water move in the fish tank.  The water moves in the same manner as air.  Since warm air is less dense than cool air, warm air rises, leaving space for the cool air to sink and take it's place.  Convection currents happen as a result of uneven heating of the Earth's surface (when it is warm in one place and cooler in another location).
